Leo Matsuoka, aged 23, is a recent graduate of the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Oleh Krysa and Robin Scott. An avid chamber musician, he has performed as a member of Chamber Music OC’s distinguished Pre-college program and participated in master classes with Phil Setzer, Robert DeMaine, the Jupiter String Quartet, Julian Martin, and Margaret Batjer. In addition Leo is a founding member of the Genesee Piano Trio and was a recipient of the John Celentano Award for Excellence in Chamber Music upon graduation from the Eastman School of Music. Leo also has extensive experience participating in orchestras, serving as principal second violinist and concertmaster of the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra and associate concertmaster of Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra. His previous teachers include Iryna Krechkovsky and Ayako Sugaya. Leo began formal training at the age of 10 and attended the Orange County School of the Arts Instrumental Music program.
